Entrepreneurship in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region has been on the rise over the last decade. The U.S. and regional governments have prioritized encouraging and supporting the growth of entrepreneurial endeavors. Leaders view entrepreneurship as a means to alleviate the high unemployment rates of youth endemic throughout the region and more effectively utilize the increasing educational levels and technological sophistication of their twenty and thirty-somethings. Three of the previous six Global Entrepreneurship Summits were hosted by MENA countries (Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey). This demonstrates the commitment of U.S. and MENA-based leaders to entrepreneurial growth in this very important region.

MENA-based entrepreneurs are developing solutions focused on their region’s economic needs, cultures, and religions. They have proven themselves to be technologically savvy, socially conscious, and highly innovative, when provided with the needed resources to start new ventures. To help in the process of obtaining needed business acumen and financial resources, the U.S. Department of State’s Near Eastern Affairs Bureau, The League of Arab States, and the Middle East & North Africa Consultants Association (MENA Consultants) are honored to host some of these young entrepreneurs at our Global Entrepreneurship Summit’s Speed Networking & Iftar Reception on Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 7:00PM to 10:00PM at the Sheraton in Palo Alto.

The Global Entrepreneurship Summit Speed Networking and Iftar Reception event will include opening remarks, a speed networking session between entrepreneurs and investors, and an Iftar networking reception.
