Ramy was the Senior Director of Product Management at Yahoo! overseeing the company’s next generation media strategy and products. Before joining Yahoo!, Ramy was the founder of, a social curation startup born during the Arab Spring. With family living in Egypt during the revolution, Ramy turned to social media to share news of the uprising. But he was frustrated with the existing social media tools which favored sharing news bites over real analysis. He quit his job in venture and founded in 2011. The company was backed by Khosla Ventures and True Ventures. In 2013 Yahoo! acquired to fuel its social strategy. Before founding, Ramy was a Principal at Khosla Ventures where he worked with legendary investors Vinod Khosla and Pierre Lamond on a number of investments including Square and Groupme, serving on the boards of a number of companies such as Ness Technologies (Acquired by OpenTable), Seatme (Acquired by Yelp), and Storify (Acquired by LiveFyre). Previously, Ramy led the enterprise engineering group at Tellme since the company’s founding in 2000 and until its acquisition by Microsoft for $800M in 2007. Ramy holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Computer Science from Harvard and an MBA from Stanford, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar. An avid sailor, he is the author of a number of patents and co-founder of the Harvard Arab Alumni Association.
